Richard McCartan DVM

Dick grew up on a farm in northwest Iowa and graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University in 1977. He has practiced in Kenai since 1978. Mickey's family homesteaded in Clam Gulch, she is a lifelong Alaskan. Married in 1982, they have three adult children, a Maltese dog, and two cats. Dick enjoys all aspects of small animal veterinary medicine. In their free time, Dick and Mickey enjoy skiing, fishing, camping, hiking, gardening, and travelling. They love living on the Kenai Peninsula and appreciate having been able to care for your family pets for all these years.

Curt Wisnewski DVM

Dr. Curt Wisnewski grew up on a farm in North Dakota.  He graduated from North Dakota State University with a BS in Animal Science.  He received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Kansas State University in 1989, where he met his wife, Shawnee.  They have 6 children, 2 dogs and 2 cats as well as guinea pigs and fish. Dr Wisnewski has practiced at the Kenai Veterinary Hospital since 1995.  



Wendy Gruber DVM


Dr. Gruber grew up in Soldotna and graduated from SOHI.  She received a BS in Natural Resources from the University of Nebraska and worked for the Bristol Bay Native Association for several years before going back to school to pursue veterinary medicine.  She received her DVM from the University of Minnesota in 2004 and has worked across the country.  She, her husband Darby, and their two daughters, Ava 5 and Sophia 3, have returned home where she has joined the Kenai Veterinary Hospital team.
